Saying Goodbye.

This last week I said goodbye to a dear friend of mine...

No Moses did not die.  He is still good and alive.  I just decided it was time for him to go to a good home where he could get the love and attention he was use to getting.  I spend almost a whole year going home and spending time with this little guy, but now I have me back and life.  I'm grateful I had a wonderful furry friend to keep me company.  Thank you to Brian & Heather Hout who have taken this sweet face into their home.  They surprised their kids for Christmas! It was fun. :)

PS: I will still write a children's book about Moses one day! :)

Journal Entry #2:

If you could give one piece of advice to everybody, what would it be?

I started writing this post a long time ago... When I first read the question I was not sure what one single piece of advice I would give to everybody, but deep down and with some thought it came to me! So without further ado here is my advice:

BE HONEST!
Be honest with yourself in all
shapes and forms…
Be honest with yourself so you can be completely honest with everyone else….
If you can’t be honest with yourself how do you expect to be able to be honest
with everyone else….
The dictionary defines honesty as:
truthfulness, sincerity, or frankness.

How would you define honesty?

I will leave you on that note.  Can't wait to hear from you!

A few creative moments!

- George Bernard Shaw

Just thought I would share some ideas/ some of my fun creative moments I have had recently...

This was a diaper cake that I made for Kim Midkiff in Oregon and see those very colorful lollipop looking things... I made those too.  They are cake, I got the idea from bakerella.com and just took my own approach on them ...... The diaper cake was true inspiration... not a copy cat at all, ONE OF A KIND! :)

Next up my current project!

I know these might look strange, but this is just the beginning product... I am not sure where these ideas come from at times, but they do so I accept the challenge and the hours it takes to do it just right.  Not many of you know that I am helping my mom coach the cheer squad at her school... It was a last minute deal where my mom stepped up to the plate in late October and offered to be the coach because if not no one else wanted to do it so there would not be any squad at all. Lucky for my mom I moved home and what a great opportunity for me to do something I love.  Long story short, my older sister Tipton is making bows for the girls and we had some extra white ribbon left over... me being me ..realized we had decided not to put the girls' names on their bags ( last minute orders for Cheer Gear... yikes!).  My brilliant idea is to make the ribbon it to cute " luggage tags" in a way for their bags.  This is only the beginning product.  Once I get through all the steps and finish them I will post the final pictures. Just to tell you what I have so far... By hand I wrote out the girls' names on the strips of ribbon and filled in the letters with glitter glue... These are drying and will have to for several several hours... As you can see I have placed some buttons and other little rhinestones... Those all are going to get sewn on... probably... well yes by hand.  Anyway... Between that and getting a routine together for the squad and many other duties... I have been kept busy.  Wish me luck that this "bright" idea I have and that it turns out to what I imagine it to be...

And last but not least stay tuned for the "framed letters" I am going to attempt for my older sister's little girls room... I can't wait for that one!

These are a few of my favor-ite Things

After talking to a friend the other day I came to realize there is still much left to who I am and I really didn't "lose" myself entirely just temporarily... So to celebrate some of my favorite things here's the song that came to mind and if I was really clever I would rewrite the song for you with my favorite things. . .

Raindrops on roses and whiskers on kittens
Bright copper kettles and warm woolen mittens

Brown paper packages tied up with strings

These are a few of my favorite things

Cream colored ponies and crisp apple strudels

Doorbells and sleigh bells and schnitzel with noodles

Wild geese that fly with the moon on their wings

These are a few of my favorite things

Girls in white dresses with blue satin sashes

Snowflakes that stay on my nose and eyelashes

Silver white winters that melt into springs

These are a few of my favorite things

When the dog bites
When the bee stings

When I'm feeling sad
I simply remember my favorite things

And then I don't feel so bad

Without further a do a few of my favorite things:
#1: I LOVE APPLE CIDER!! The Holidays are always the best for family, friends, & cider

I have had the opportunity to go to the Las Vegas, Provo, Mt. Timpanogos, Medford, Portland, Rexburg, & Idaho Falls Temples.  I have a lot more to go to! :)

You won't believe this...

As a follow-up to my last post about "chicken pox girl" here is something to make your knickers fly off!  The next morning this is the message I had in my facebook...
By the way This Is NO JOKE by the way.  I have left who sent this to me; I am sure you can imagine why.

Subject: I think i met you before in elementary school with the message saying this: did you go to goldfarb or adams? did you possibly have a poison ivy rash when you were younger?

Did you catch the last part, poison ivy rash... Now I get to be known as Poison Ivy Rash Girl...

Can I at least have a hot suit and play a superhero or something of that sort?

This was for everyone's viewing pleasure...
no feelings were harmed in the making of this blog.

Journal Entry: " What is the meanest thing that has ever happened to you?"

Really?  This is the first little piece of paper that I would pull out of the jar... well, ok then.

As I think back on my 22 years of life almost 23 years now there are several things that come to mind for being "mean" things, but so many of them don't really compare to the lies I have heard over the past few years.  However I think for now it is best to skip that and do my best to move on, so I will look back even farther.

One thing I can tell you is my memory is far from great so if I remember the situation wrong, please please correct me.

I have dug up one... something that has stuck with me for a very long time.  Lets go back to the days when we had recess, where we tried very hard to color in the lines, snack time, and when boys had cooties. My parents had just moved houses and I was to go from kindergarten at one elementary school to another.  I did not have any friends at this elementary school I was going to attend and back then believe it or not I was shy (No joke, I was shy).   A lot of you know I grew up with a skin condition atopic dermatitis; It is a type of eczema.  When I was little I had it really bad.  We joke now in my family that I was just one big SCAB. haha!  So back to the story; I am a new little, shy girl at a new school with this skin condition that is just horrible and not easy to control at that young of an age.  I am not sure how long I was at this school, but one day on the playground I heard some girls laughing so I turned around.  Needless to say they were laughing at me! But for what! Well, out of the blue I heard these words... "CHICKEN POX GIRL".  I would have rather had chicken pox then deal with the tortuous nights of scratching because I was incredibly itchy, but that hurt down to the bone.  And here I am telling you this story because it has stuck in my mind through all this time.  Now I know those girls may not remember that moment in my life that has stuck with me so long and really they don't need to.  It was just a moment in time that has stuck with me and that I will teach my children one day that some people are given things to overcome and having a skin disease might be one of them.

There are a few more stories, but I will save them in case I pull something else like this from the jar.

Favorite Scripture

THE
DOCTRINE AND COVENANTS
OF THE CHURCH OF JESUS CHRIST OF LATTER-DAY SAINTS
SECTION 6

36:  Look unto me in every thought; doubt not, fear not.

Today, being Sunday I thought I would share my favorite scripture with all of you.  For some reason the last few days have been quite rough.  Ask me why?  I can't tell you because I really don't know.  However, today during our relief society lesson my favorite scripture came to mind.  I love the Doctrine & Covenants.    I really came to love it during my Freshman year of seminary... I had such a wonderful teacher that year (yes, many of you might be thinking... she went to seminary... my Freshman year was a terrific year going, despite the "Young Household" family joke I did attend that year....).  That year made me realize how much I love D&C.  Anyway, D&C 6:36 is a short one.  I believe it is short and powerful.  There is not doubt and fear when it comes to the Lord, but it does require us to train the natural man to look unto our Heavenly Father and Savior Jesus Christ in the hardest of times.  It is one of our biggest challenges to turn to Them during times of struggle & need.  I think with this scripture it reminds us to turn to Them at anytime in our lives;  especially in times of need, turmoil, & trial.  It is our duty to include Him in all things and to find strength in our Heavenly Father & Jesus Christ to carry us through.  We must not go through things alone and if we do what the scripture states there is not reason to doubt or fear our Heavenly Father's will.

Thankful

I have been thinking a lot of how thankful I am for the support I have had the last few years.  I have had support from many people who barely know me, who have known me for a long time, people I work with, people I lived with, people that are extremely close friends to me and my family, people I go to church with,  people whom I call family, and most of all my Heavenly Father.

I truly would not have been able to get through and keep going on so many days without all of your help.  I made several difficult decisions and everyone was there to help pick me up and keep me going.   There are so many different things I can say or expressions to use however I know deep in my heart they will not do any justice to the amount of love, care, support, guidance, hope, and faith I received from all of you.

To friends I have had for a long time and new friends I met along the way.... THANK YOU!

I am grateful for a family who was there no matter what.  I know it was very hard at times for all of you to see me struggle, hurt, cry, and not be myself.    To all of you, THANK YOU!

Thank you, Thank you, Thank you.
Thank you to all of you for helping me blossom!

And last but not least... Heavenly Father, my Savior  Jesus Christ and the Holy Ghost.    For so long I thought that I had such a simple testimony of you and the gospel.  This whole experience has brought me closer to thee and made me realize that my testimony has grown very much and is beyond simple.  So many have sympathized for the situation I have been in, but the one thing I haven't expressed very much is that this experience has brought me closer to thee and no sympathy is needed for that.  You have held my hand every step of the way and I am forever grateful for guiding me down this rough time in my life.  Thank you for giving me this experience to grow closer to Thee.  Can I also say that I LOVE THE TEMPLE!  To be in a place so peaceful and close to Thee... You think I could just move in?

I love and truly appreciate every single one of you...

Funny Story

Here was the scenario:  I am petting my guinea pig moses, and he is purring... it kinda sounds like chewbacca but so much cuter... :) Ashlyn then says:  Ok it is official we are going to have to do a remake: Guinea Wars and Moses will be Chewbacca... then Ashlyn proceeds to say scratch my head and I can purrrrrrrrr like Chewbacca too....  Chandler then scratches her head.... ONE OF THE FUNNIEST THINGS I've EVER heard! hahaha :)

Moses

I have almost had this little guy for a year... I am so grateful to have him.  Just thought I would share some pictures of the best guinea pig EVER.  It has been a transition for him too which might seem weird for a guinea pig, but he was use to his surroundings in OR and things here at the Young household are a little bit more exciting than what he is use to.

My Secret Crush

ENOUGH SAID.

Haha, ok....... I am not a super fan, but a fan of his music.  There is just something about his voice. :)
Anyway I picked up his new album to listen to on my drive from OR to Vegas... my dad and I talked too much to really listen to it.  Today, I finally got a chance to listen to most of the new beats and basically it just renewed my secret crush I have on Archie.

Ian's Halloween Costume

This is Ian, my nephew.  We took him to the ward Trunk-or-treat and my sister Tippy and her husband Tyler (their little boy) decided to dress him as a monkey this year.  My bro in law wasn't able to make it to the trunk-or-treat, but let me tell you... all of us were rolling.  This was such and adorable costume, what horrible cruelty for when this little guy is older, but it all made us smile so much! He is such a good kid and I love him LOTS! :)

Grandpa is trying to teach Ian how to put candy in his trick-or-treat bag.  By the way my sister Tippy made that adorable bag for Ian to use for trick-or-treating... it is sooooo cute!

And Success...... M&Ms!

Handing out candy with grandma!

Mommy & Son.
PS:  Tippy is having a little girl in Feb.
YEAH!
